Using 5-HTP to Produce the
REM Rebound Effect

Made from the seeds of the African Plant Griffonia simplicifolia.

5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan) can be taken at your bedtime to promote longer REM cycles in the early morning hours. This is known as the REM Rebound Effect.

The REM Rebound Effect occurs when the body is deprived of REM sleep for a period of time. Using this supplement keeps your body in deep sleep for a few hours in the beginning of the night, leading to more REM towards the end.

The supplement only promotes optimal conditions for lucid dreaming. You will most likely experience very vivid dreams in the early morning hours, but it will not be a guarantee of lucidity.

Disclaimer: Consult with your doctor before trying any new supplements.

How to Take It

  1. Take 100mg with water, right before going to bed.
  2. Go to sleep!
  3. Your dreams during the first half of the night will be suppressed as you experience deeper sleep.
  4. Enjoy intense, vivid dreams in the early morning as the supplement's effects wear off and the REM Rebound takes effect.

Where to Buy It

Most supermarkets and drug stores carry this supplement since it is used by many people as a sleep aid. You won't have any trouble finding it. Just make sure to purchase it in 50 or 100mg as it is sold in various sizes.

How it Works

After being ingested and entering the blood stream, it passes through the blood brain barrier where it is converted to serotonin, a neurotransmitter. Serotonin produces deep, relaxed sleep in the first half of the night. This leads to longer REM sleep in the second half of your sleep cycle.

Tip:

Use it with other supplements like Galantamine to increase your chances of becoming lucid even more!
